Welcome! I am glad you are here. If you are interested in getting started on your musical journey or expanding your current skill through music lessons I would be honored to help you move forward. 

Here is a little bit about me...

I have been a music educator since 2004. I am a classically trained pianist and violinist with 28 years playing experience and I hold a level 10 certification through the Royal Conservatory of Music. I am also an active member of the Puyallup Valley Music Teachers Association and the state and national organizations—WSMTA and MTNA.  

 My teaching style prioritizes clear, compassionate communication, collaboration, and mindful practice strategies that give you options and tools for overcoming playing challenges creatively. I am not a 'one size fits all' advocate by any means. The ultimate goal of any lesson in my studio is that you leave feeling excited to play your instrument after its over. Or at the vary least feel empowered to tackle whatever challenge you are facing that week. Besides that, lessons integrate a blend of technique, music theory, classical repertoire, folk tunes, and student requests. 

Method books used include Piano Express, Faber Piano Adventures, A Dozen A Day, Hanon, Essential Elements String Method, and Suzuki Method Books 1-5. I do prioritize reading music even if you can play by ear. I believe this opens the most opportunities for you as a musician and will give you the most out of our time together. I also highly value proper playing technique and postures that help alleviate tension that can lead to chronic pain and injury over time.
